Dear friends of students’ sport!

On behalf of the organizing committee I welcome You! I wish You pleasant stay, new friendships enjoying the bridge skills and to take many nice memories to Your homes! Owing to Your taking part at 1st European Universities Bridge Championship, the door of the European stundents’ bridge have been opened, to the European University sports family.

Croatia is a very beautiful country which has the honour and responsibility to be Your host. The obligation of this organization has been overtaken together by Sports Association of The Polytechnic of Karlovac and Sports Bridge Club Opatija and Your host has kindly been the town Opatija, one of the most beautiful Croatian sea resorts, with rich tradition in bridge, and Primorsko-goranska County as well.

Sports Association of The Polytechnic of Karlovac is part of the Polytechnic of Karlovac and with the Students Centre and Students Organisation it takes care about the entire students’ sport activities. In that way students from Karlovac have taken part in many national and even in 4 European Universities championships.

The Polytechnic of Karlovac was founded April 16th, 1997 and is one of the oldest members of The Croatian Council of Universities And University Colleges of Applied Sciences which has together with Ministry of Science, Education and Sport been the patron of this manifestation. Today it counts about 2500 students at 7 expert courses of study.
